Artifact and Rationale |
5.1 Candidates will be able to develop an online facilitation plan based on best practices of online learning and teaching that demonstrates their ability to teach in the online environment. |
For my internship, I created four websites focusing on different technology tools. These sessions were self-paced and allowed participants to work in an asynchronous learning environment. For each session, there were clearly defined and measurable learning goals and a variety of resources. Each session also required participants to use the tool and reflect on the implementation. By creating these PD sessions, I feel as if I have demonstrated my ability to teach and provide quality resources in the online environment. 14.2 Candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to lead technology initiatives at the school or district level. |
In ET 691, which is my internship course, I had to write a proposal paper explaining what I would be doing in my internship before I could begin. For my internship, I proposed the idea of creating website-based professional development opportunities for teachers at my school with a focus on specific tech tools. Within my paper, I had to include a rationale as to why I was completing this type of internship, specific objectives and a tentative timeline, references to relevant models of change, and plans on how I would assess participants. With the help from my S.T.A.T. teacher, I was also able to offer one CPD credit to each participant that successfully completed each session. See the above artifact for my internship proposal. |
15.1 Candidates will be able to apply models of professional learning to begin the process of real change in a school. |
For my internship, I led asynchronous technology- related professional development sessions on a handful of technology tools to use in the classroom. I focused on ActivInspire, screencasting, SeeSaw, and Socrative. I created websites for each tech tool and pushed them out via email to participants. Each session took place during a two-week period, was self-paced, and ended with a reflection. Below are the four website links I created. Please visit my Internship Artifacts page if you would like to view individual artifacts created and implemented in the classroom by the participants in this internship. 16.2 Candidates will be able to determine and implement the best approaches to improving their technology integration efforts through a continual process of self-evaluation and reflection. |
Within my internship, it was required for us to set up a way to reflect as we moved through our internship. I reflected after each PD session that I created and also included a final overall reflection with next steps. Within my reflections, I included a continual process of self- evaluation discussing strengths and areas of growth throughout my internship. I also evaluated the effectiveness of my internship using feedback from the participants. My reflections showcase what I learned throughout this internship as well as include what I would do the same and differently if I had to complete this internship again. I look forward to continuing my education on future technology as the education field continues to change. I love to use technology in my classroom, and I plan to continue learning on my own time as well as take courses [offered by BCPS] as they become available. As an educator in the 21st century, it is important to continue to gain knowledge and reflect on positives and negatives of using technology to enhance student learning. |
17.1 Candidates will be able to locate a variety of technology resources, evaluate them for classroom use, and assist colleagues with this process. |
For my internship, I created four websites where I had to provide information about each of the technology tools I focused on. Part of this process required me to locate resources and evaluate them for use. I had to sift through information from sources such as YouTube, Promethean Planet, and TeacherTube and decide what I thought would be valuable for my colleagues and what would be not so important for these PD sessions. In addition, I also created some of my own resources to include for each session. Visit the PD websites above to see linked videos and resources. |
