Key Concept 4:
Information Literacy
4.1 Candidates will be able to understand concepts of information literacy and can apply those to help students and educators improve their information literacy skills on the path to becoming dialectical readers.
In ET 630, we were tasked with working in a small group to create a multi-day lesson plan the helped students to gain appropriate understanding of information using technology. This project was created for the intention of a third grade classroom. This lesson required students to think critically about the credibility of specific websites. Students had to differentiate between credible and non-credible sources. Students were also expected to explore the authors' biases in order to determine whether they agreed or disagreed with him/ her. By the end of the lesson, students were asked to reflect on the question, "Do you agree or disagree with the use of wind turbines as a source of energy?" and create a final project explaining their answer with several supporting details.
